The Scottsdale Police State
August 12, 2008 by Frank

Scottsdale, Arizona is a corrupt, shyster, sad excuse for a city government and police department.
Scottsdale maintains a police state where photo radar cameras lie in wait on every block and on the freeway, and red light cameras are going up on every corner.
To further bolster their money-grubbing schemes, the city has been artificially lowering speed limits on photo-enforced streets.
Then we have Scottsdale’s “slightest degree” DUI scam. This is where any amount of alcohol is justification for a DUI arrest and conviction.
Yep, you read that – ANY amount. That means you can go to jail for DUI in Scottsdale for rinsing with Listerine before getting into the car.
To make matters worse, there are all the false DUI arrests that go on in Scottsdale for the purpose of generating revenue (Scottsdale has no jail costs, since the victims of this scam go to county jail).
I know someone who was arrested for “DUI” in his driveway. He walked out the front door of his house and a Scottsdale cop who was waiting in the bushes arrested him, claiming he “intended” to get in the car and drive.
While in jail, he met someone else who doesn’t even drink but went to tent city jail for DUI merely for having Tylenol PM in his possession, even though he hadn’t taken any that day.
That’s the police state Scottsdale has become.
And the worst part of it all?
The lazy, complacent, despicable citizens of Scottsdale do nothing about it. They simply lie down and take it because they’re too lacking in character to stand up for themselves.
Who is going to stand up and correct this sad, sad situation?

Nearly the whole state is like this. Not just Snottsdale. Corrupt to the core. Just a bunch of people at the bottom of society ripping each other off. That’s AZ for you.
The recent addition of all these fraud cameras is enough to make you sick. It’s all about the money and surveliance.
I heard about this site called camerafraud.com and this guy called RON PAUL 4409 on Youtube the other day. Amazing patriot stuff I have to say.
Scottsdale wants tickets and DUI’s. I worked there for a few years and thats all they wanted! It is a joke. There is not much integrity on the force as the good ‘ol boys network is strong and well. I used to get spoken to by a supervisor when I slow rolled my neighborhoods…They said I should be out giving tickets. The community policing in Scottsdale is a joke!
I moved here from Texas and i always felt something wasn’t right. I’m not sure what it is but it almost seems that Scottsdale (maybe all of Az) creates these strict laws to bring in more money. My friend blew a .01 and they were going to throw him in jail for DUI had he not pleaded with the officer to have me pick him up. It’s almost scary how much you have to worry about having the law come down on you. Another thing, back in Texas when ever i got paid i never had the gov. dip in on my paycheck for a state’s tax. So we have a state’s tax, a harsh DUI law, camera vans parked on side walks (not to mention along the I-10 in case you try to get out of this state) and cameras along the 101 and stop lights. Sounds like anyway to get you to cough up more money. So sad… i really like this place but i don’t I’ll be staying much longer.
Hi,
I was wondering if the former Scottsdale cop could help me out….it’s a long story, but we just moved here from Gilbert and I foster parent my 13 year old nephew. Well, one father in this self-righteous, self-loving community, and a rookie policeman are trying to take my nephew to court for “chasing and scaring” this guy’s son. They even went so far as to obtain my nephew’s information from his school (where the incident DID NOT occur). The school didn’t even contact me before releasing his and our information to the cops. By the way, as a foster child/ward of the state, he is covered under the McKinney Act and all of his information is confidential. And again, this alleged incident didn’t occur on school property. Nor did the cops have a subpeona, warrant, or court order for this information. Also, the cop who questioned my nephew at our home, 3 days after the supposed incident, didn’t read my nephew his Miranda rights, nor did he have us sign and date them. It is also disturbing that the kid my nephew supposedly shoved and scared (yep, that’s it), was back in the safety of his own home on speaker phone with his dad, while his dad ordered my nephew to get into his car, all while getting in my nephew’s face, waving his finger in his face, and grabbing my nephew by his arm (all of which he denies, of course). Are the police concerned about this? No, they are not. Did they allow me to file a police report? No, they did not. Please, I know some laws have been broken and I will not allow them to railroad my nephew and myself. Please, if someone can help us, contact me. Thank you.
I agree 100% with the poster, scottsdale is a fu**ing police state – let me tell you I would know…. – from travelling the world several-extended and many filled-to-the-brim passports, i can confidently and easily say that Russia is far less corrupt and more democratic today then local Scottsdale, and I would rather deal with the police in Russia then police in Scottsdale, since the poilce in Russia are actually sensible human’s just like the rest of us (for you old people who never got the message, communism = dead, okay? russia = attempt at democracy just like the USA’s attempt and Englands attempt and….) England is a pretty hefty police state after their July incident on the tube, HOWEVER it was never like that before (i lived there and came back to scottsdale every 2 weeks for 4years) but Scottsdale (and hell most of the state!) is teh worst….. next is MormanVille UTAH
Scottsdale PD is a joke.
They’ll hire anyone barely out of puberty, who possess half the intelligence of an autistic toddler.
Most of their force is comprised of arrogant, obnoxious, power-happy douchebags.
Their unethical, inappropriate, illegal behavior only serves to justify any and all hatred expressed toward police. They are the epitome of dirty, incompetent, une-ducated police.
