Out-of-control Scottsdale HOA slapping boots on cars
June 20, 2008 by Frank
Now the scumbag Scottsdale HOAs are slapping boots on residents’ cars and charging to remove them!! Lawsuit anyone? This is about the worst violation of private property rights I’ve seen from an HOA yet. The story is picking up steam and over a quarter million people nationwide are following it – read the full story here:
As I told myself I’d never live in a HOA community here I am. After a year here they forced upon us that we had to pay for parking passes to park outside. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ There’s over 700 homes.
Gee, I wounder why they did that?
So you have to display your pass or you get booted, by an outsider company not associated with the HOA, they just won the contract. As the schmucks drive though they look for the obvious outsiders looking to park (visitors) and boot them, and milk the cows. “That will be $140 Sir to remove the boot.”
Well, it’s just a long day @ work, your mind is busy, you park and don’t put your pass on your rear view. They throw 2 boots on you, a large display sticker, phone # and $140 removal fee. I’ve parked in the same spot for 3 months, always displayed, they know the car, a extensively modified Audi parked in the same spot for 3 months with a displayed pass. It’s a no brainier I have a pass.
Gee, I wounder why the pass isn’t a permanent sticker?
Now, why wouldn’t I always keep the pass hanging from my rearveiw? Being in the top 10 auto theft capitals in the country, I’m not comfortable DISPLAYING where I live when the community is displayed in the largest characters on the pass.
The plastered WARNING sticker on the window mentions you will be penalized to the fullest of law if you remove or damage the boots. So I called the cops………only one…..but she said I can not damage the the boots, however nothing illegal about removing them.
You know the case, if you don’t pay up evenly you’ll get towed,so…….
I’m just going to get some f-ing dollies, install them and push the freaking Audi right into the garage you bsaterds. Give them a call to come get their num nut boots……………………..and the Audi is undergoing a semi-rebuild….I don’t need them off…they won’t bother me keeping them on….I don’t need to drive it…..a waiting game means nothing.
I own my home, they can not come on the individual property unless I grant permission, and they can not tow it as it’ll be in the garage.

My buddy had this happen to him while parked at the Motorolla plant in Scottsdale. They use the same boots. Unfortunately for Motorolla, he was in his work truck… he’s a welder whom was making brackets for their AC units on their corporate building. Well suffice to say security had to go pick up both halves of their boot that he torched off as well as sit threw a few days with no AC as he was having to “wait for special parts” to finish the job.
“he’s a welder whom was making brackets for their AC units”
Learn when to use whom vs. who. Don’t write pretentiously.
You first said “he,” so you shouldn’t say “whom.”
Thanks.
What’s this I hear about the city of Phoenix instituting “rolling right on red” and “illegal left” traffic cam tickets? I feel like Big Brother is taking over every facet of my commute. The light rail can’t come fast enough. Yes, I will use it. Sorry Scottsdale, you didn’t want it, so have fun with $6/ gallon gas this fall.
To Shyster B Harvey -
I wouldn’t make fun of people for using poor grammar. Contrary to popular belief, we 7-figure earning bestselling authors all use poor grammar.
The $30,000/year proofreaders correct it for us.
Trust me, good grammar is nothing to brag about. It’s indicative of a failure mentality, and “jerkoffs with jobs” as me and my friends put it.
Gee Shyster B. Harvey I guess that’s what I get for barely graduating high school. I should have paid attention, should have gone to college like you…should have gotten a good job with good benefits and worked hard like you. Instead I did bad and risky things like buy dirty old mobile home parks fix them up and sell them making more money in a month than brain surgeons like yourself makes in a year. Funny, I employ several folks whom correct my grammar on my contracts, so I should say thanks for the free work. You can do that for me anytime!!
Frank,
Your insights into the human psyche are shallow and worthless. I love how you play mister psychiatrist. Next time, for credibility, quote DSM IV.
Shyster, I am a recognized expert on the science of social dynamics and have been frequently interviewed and quoted in major media on that topic.
And like Matt I didn’t have to go to college for that. It’s funny though how many college graduates are working for me now.
“Funny, I employ several folks whom correct my grammar on my contracts, so I should say thanks for the free work.”
You still haven’t learned. Your subject is “several folks.” “They” correct your grammar. Use who.
I have to disagree with you – I think grammar is important. I hate seeing our language butchered and misused. In the age of text messaging, proper grammar is so refreshing!
…and this is coming from a 23 year old.
People like Harvey are the same people that like having nazi HOA’s cite people for stupid stuff …. like parking on the white line. This guys housing community sounds like it’s right up your alley Harvey.
I actually read about das boot this morning on vwvortex. Some of the pictures are absolutely hilarious. Thank God somebody like this guy had the balls to stand up to Arizona Parking Solutions and the owner of the company. If you type in Arizonaparkingsolutionssucks.com it takes you to the thread on vwvortex.
The owner of the company found out about this and also saw all the hilarious pictures that this guy posted and went ballistic. The cops actually told the kid that the owner of the company was going crazy over this. The kid also put the owners personal information on the website.
He also put the agreement that the company had with the HOA and in the agreement the first offense was only supposed to get a warning, something that he didn’t get. The end result is that the company ended up putting it’s tail between it’s legs.
…side note: I didn’t go to college to increase my income. If you think that’s what it’s about, you’re missing it – and I don’t know where to begin explaining.
I was in Phoenix last month for the Rush concert. A friend of mine didn’t have anything kind to say about “Snotsdale”. These stories just keep getting better Frank. Thanks.
Nice, I was at that show too and even scored sticks from Neil!!
I love how Harvey cant come up with any salient point to refute my position on the ridiculousness of his actions so he merely does the same and attacks my grammar. Isn’t doing the same thing yet expecting a different outcome a sign of psychosis?
Anyone who likes Rush is no friend of mine.
Harvey is the epitome of douchebag. Probably a North Scottsdale resident.
I love this blog, because anytime I’m annoyed with Texas heat, I can come here, and realize that I could be in ridiculous heat, AND be surrounded by control freak assholes.
Thanks Frank.
Language matters, whether spoken or written.
The more precise and more accurate, the higher the value.

Check out the E4 Slideshow on AZCENTRAL.COM!!! It is absolutely HILARIOUS!! All of those people would be stopped at the door in NY or LA!!
Raven, you’re looking at this from the wrong perspective.
Language matters for anything that will be seen by a large audience, but it is *NOT* worth my time to sit here and proofread everything myself. I pay someone else to do that – the key word here is OUTSOURCING.
Any business owner who tries to do everything himself is just treading water and will eventually fail. If I tried to run all my sites, blogs, ship products, do design, handle customer service, and everything else myself, I’d be dead in the water. Instead I pay people to do all that.
The same goes with proofreading anything that will be seen by a large number of people.
One thing though – when it comes to blogs, a mistake here and there makes it more personal and not like you’re reading something that came from a big cold publisher and has been through an army of proofreaders first. That’s part of the appeal of blogging and online forums vs. reading published books all day.
In summary, if you don’t understand why it would be foolish for me to sit here and proofread everything before I post it, please read “The 4-Hour Workweek.”
If you practiced writing clearly, you wouldn’t have to proofread!
Good writing (and good speech!) becomes second nature to those who practice.
“Practice writing”?
That is truly ignorant and a WASTE OF TIME.
Do yourself a favor and quit telling others about businesses you know nothing about.
Frank, you do realize you write almost daily, right?
