Even the BMW dealer is leaving Scottsdale!
March 4, 2009 by Frank
Man, you can’t make this stuff up. Even the BMW dealer, the bastion of phony wannabe $30k millionaires who lease 330i’s for $399/month in their attempts to trick you into believing they’re six-figure hotshots, is bailing out of Scottsdale!
Will there be anyone left other than white trash, tweekers, two-strikers fleeing from California, and illegals!
Is Scottsdale the new “909″? Wait a minute, the 909 has always been a step above the 480. Never mind.
As if it’s not funny enough to see purveyors of the $30k millionaire lifestyle bailing out, what’s even funnier is how much sales tax revenue the slimy corrupt City of Scottsdale stands to lose! Word came this week that they’re going to lay off hundreds of teachers due to lack of funds.
Of course, there are other ways for them to save money. Since there seems to be 1 cop for every 10 Scottsdale residents, you’d think they’d lay off some cops.
Hmm, with all those cops, it should be the safest small city in America. Not so. Could it be due to the fact that those cops are hired to be revenue generators and not crime preventers? Ya think?
What they don’t see coming is the fact that since everyone in Scottsdale is so completely broke and busted out, they’re not going out drinking anymore. No endless drinking binges means less easy DUI revenue for Scottsdale. Of course, they’ll continue to stretch the slightest-degree laws as far as they can and continue arresting people for having one beer or rinsing with Listerine before driving, but come on, the clubbing and partying and bottle service were a by-product of the housing bubble. Now that it’s burst, the nightlife has burst with it.
Oh well. Too bad. I’m just happy to see Scottsdale unable to afford even the signature Scottsdale car, the pre-owned, 5-year-lease, 3-series BMW!
I think it’s time for Scottsdale to man up, swallow their pride, and finally admit that they were nothing but a lower-middle-class suburb of Phoenix all along. Always has been, always will be! Except for the fact that as time goes on, Scottsdale continues to plunge down toward the lower-class end of the spectrum.

do you have any idea what is actually going on. Fucking trailer trash you are, stay in newport beach.
Yep, real trailer trash here in Newport Beach where an entry-level condo costs a million dollars.
DUMBASS! Stay in ghetto Scottsdale where you belong with all the other $30k millionaires. Well, of course you’ll stay in Scottsdale, because you can’t afford anything better.
Has anyone else noticed the annoying pop-ups on AZCentral.com? They’re new… a desperate attempt at advertiser revenue (while annoying readers) due to the crashing AZ economy?
Just got a speeding ticket on Shea Blvd. – first in 23 years. If I can ever get out of here, I will make a point to never come near Scottsdale again so they can’t get another dime of my money. It really sours you on an entire area. Been in the Valley for 18 years, and only ticket.
Well, the mills of justice gind slowly…but they do grind fine!
Nice to see even Troon country club estates is getting hammered with price declines not seen since…gawd knows when.
Yeah. BMW is hauling ass outta’ here. Too fricken’ funny!
Ha, ha! I’m just going to sit outside, sipping a $5 Frapuccino in Kierland, and watch all the rats scramble as the repo guys heist back the Beemers dudes and dudettes could never really
afford.
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust:. The desert will reclaim parts of Scottsdale, and, perhaps maybe some real citizens will–once again–emerge from the rat infested environs, littered with a bizarre ensemble of left-over tweekers, hip gangster wannabe douchebags and bagettes; $30 millionaire club hounds; bleach blond gold digging scumettes; et al; ad nauseum; ad infinitum; ad absurdum.
Hope they all scramble back to Bumfrack Iowa, or wherever.
Perhaps something real will eventually rise again, from the tattered ashes of a broke-ass Scottsdale. You never know.
The fat ’90s-early 2000s have given way to reality. A cold slap in the face has descended on the denigrated denizens: you spit into the wind often enough, and a big looch is going to, sooner or later, thwap you in the eye but good!
Maybe some of the high-minded skanks will come down to reality and put down the botox and forgo a fake rack for more modest accoutrements.
Scottsdalean dumbasses this is the bed of nails you fashioned. Now lie in it.
Frank,
One would think that you have better things to do with your time. What you say about Scottsdale can be said about many affluent communities across the U.S. I read how you commented what you believe to be Scottsdale’s corruption because someone (is that you?) can get thrown in jail after drinking one beer and then to come home to a pile of traffic tickets. Get over it, and do something that WILL ACTUALLY HELP OTHER PEOPLE, such as donating a portion of the proceeds from your “Best Seller” to a worthy cause.
Better yet, run for political office and effect positive change. Anyone can flap their gums.
Well Frank, we have not been to Scottsdale in 2 years, have been there 4 times before and really enjoyed it (stay at Sheraton Desert Oasis).
After reading your blog, was a bit afraid to return. Will keep eyes open to see if as “Ghetto” as you claim it now is. Hope you are wrong.
frank….I own property in newport beach, so i can say you are full of shit
rgretgertg: You do not own property in Newport Beach. You can’t afford it. If you did, you’d be living there. Can anyone here see the logic in living in Scottsdale if you owned property in Newport? This guy is another busted-out mortgage broker cokehead who works at McDonald’s now.
Oh, and the dope is attempting to spam my Wikipedia page daily. Yep, real successful man you are!
Jojo: I am the internet marketing mastermind behind several political action committees and I also donate heavily to candidates I believe in, so quit jumping to assumptions before shooting your mouth off. And while this site gets about 10 minutes a week of my attention, yes, I do have all the time in the world since I’m retired at 36.
Jojo, no, these things don’t go on in REAL affluent communities. Can’t you get it through your head that a city with a $39k median income is NOT affluent???!?!?!?
And Joe Jacari, you are the man!! We think alike and unlike the two idiots I mentioned, we have enough brainpower — along with many other people here — to see Scottsdale for what it really is. I couldn’t have said it better myself!
Frank I agree with you on your political points, but could you be more specific on why scottsdale bothers you so much. Thanks
The people. See the other posts on the site. I’ve lived in a lot of places but the people in Scottsdale were the most unfriendly of all.
Anyone who believes that Scottsdale is friendly or even desirable really needs to travel and see the rest of this great nation.
” the signature Scottsdale car, the pre-owned, 5-year-lease, 3-series BMW!”
Frank, the signature Scottsdale car has to be the Infiniti G35/G37 coupe. I swear it’s standard issue to all d-bags and wannabes when they move to Scottsdale.
Well we have been here for 11 days now, going home in 2 more, and about the only change I have noticed is that the people in the service industry (stores, restaurants, etc) really seem to be happy to have a job, and it shows in their atttiude. Have not done any nightclubs, since not in that scene (married with 2 small kids), but the service at our resorts (Middle of the road Villa Mirage and Desert Oasis) has been great, the rooms fantastic, and have not been carjacked yet. Some friends had a tiny scorpion in their room the other night but so far that has been the only threat to our safety. Fingers crossed it stays this way.
At any rate, we have enjoyed our stay, will probably come back again.
True, true. I moved to Scottsdale SIX freaking long years ago. I HATE it here. I do not fit into any of your categories, however. My house is paid for and my car is paid for and I just hate living here. I am stuck, however, in that I am not a poser and financially really responsible so cannot leave at this point in time. Did I say how much I hate it here? I moved here from San Francisco Bay Area. I so miss interesting things to do. This place is oh so dull and boring.
Oh, and to add another comment…at times I think I’ll lose my mind living here. This is how much I hate it. Anyone with real money (and I mean REAL money) would not waste their time living here. I guess I do as I don’t have a mortgage and like living mortgage free in a safe and quiet (boring) neighborhood. There is no use in my even trying to acclimate here, as I am just surrounded by losers right and left. I have no time for fake or phoney or boring. Life is just too damn short. And now I have to figure out what to do next….
Frank
You bring back long term memories of my Dad. As a kid he would go off and rant about the same thing about the small, supposedly wealthy town we lived in. He called them $5000 millionaires and Four-flushers. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
I live in LA and lived in Scottsdale. I get the fact that Socal is desirable in almost every way more than AZ, but not everyone an afford a million dollar crap shack in the beach communities of LA / OC.
